I finally remembered that I’ve been remiss in getting photographs of the long-awaited demolition of the generally unloved Newgate Centre in Newcastle, so I got a few shots today. More of which later, but I was quite interested to see the machinery being used on the large hotel block:
That’s the view from across Grainger Street, where the lower part of the centre is already gone. I thought it would be worth popping around the rear for another angle, which gives a better idea of the size of the rubble mound the digger is sitting on:
Looks like demolition will be over before long. Site clearance is going to be a big job – it’s going to need a lot of truck loads to get rid of that lot.
