Monthly Archives: June 2017

June 2017 Round-up

Would you believe it? June’s fading damply away, which means that the year is half over already. But more importantly, it means it’s time for the monthly report!

Weight

More ups and downs

June 1: 239.5 pounds (17 stone 1.5 pounds, 108.6 kg)
June 30: 238.2 pounds (17 stone 0.2 pounds, 108 kg)

That’s a moderate drop of 1.3 pounds (0.6kg)

Eating

Yeah, still doing that

Exercise

I’ve had a few reasonable weekend walks.

Posting

The monthly total is a slightly above average for these days 40. Blame the Doctor for that. Which is what I said last month, but there’s only one episode to go, so July might be a bit quiet.

Stuff

Errrrr, naah. Nothing to say, really.

Hmmm, up again today. This is all far too random…

I’m not sure this thing is showing the right time. Probably needs a new battery, or something

Up another little bit today. I blame the rain.

Talking of wet things, here’s a non-operational fountain thingy at Seaton Deleval Hall

Back up again today…

You know, this kind of thing has been bothering me for ages. It seems almost every town and village in the country has a sign on the way in making demands of this nature:

Must I?

Must I?

I have a couple of problems with this:

  1. I don’t drive at all, so demanding that I do it carefully seems a bit silly
  2. Why is there no sign on the way out saying something like “OK, do what the heck you like now, we don’t care”? Hmm? Hmm?

And isn’t Seaton Sluice a delightful name?

What’s this? Down again?! Well, so it seems…

It was a slightly different Sunday, as it started with doing some work-realted stuff that needed doing, and that for reasons I won’t bore you with wasn’t the kind of thing to do during working hours, or even an early evening. It all went as planned, so that wasn’t so bad.

After that, I went into Newcastle for a couple of hours, more to have a walk in the quite pleasant weather than anything, though I did pay a visit to the Discovery Museum.

And then I came home.

Seaton Deleval Hall has some quite nifty, if occasionally violent, sculptures:

What’s this? Down again? Well, apparently so…

Today’s outing was to Seaton Deleval Hall, which it’s taken me a while to get around to visiting. It’s about 45 minutes from Newcastle on one of those buses that takes a very meandering route, but gets there eventually. I had a good look around the place – it’s an odd mix of nicely preserved rooms in one wing and a just saved in time before it could fall down near ruin in the other. And it’s got formal gardens, woodland, and more to enjoy. And it’s always good to flash my National Trust card to get into places!

This is a view of the entrance to the not quite in perfect condition part of the hall:

Down again today…

In a break with tradition, Friday did not start with a sausage sarnie, as I had to catch a train and visit a far distant outpost known as “Teesside”, where I talked to some people and did some things of a work-related nature. And after that, I returned to Newcastle for a couple of hours before coming home.

This is a detail of the statue of Henry Pease at Saltburn. The wiki-linky-thingy will tell you all about him, so I won’t provide a summary.
