Oooooh, down again today.
I’ve taken a few days off work and decided to make the most of today by taking myself to Edinburgh, where I had a bit of a walk, but the main thing was a visit to The Palace of Holyroodhouse, official residence of the Queen when in Scotland, and otherwise a nicely historical tourist attraction. You get an audio guide thingy (available in several languages, but I stuck with English) which describes what’s on show in each room, and tells you where to go next (hard to get this wrong, there’s a planned route through the public rooms). Lots of interesting stuff to see in the palace, and there’s even a lovely ruined abbey at the back:
From there, I went to my usual Edinburgh lunch venue, the St Giles Café Bar , where I had my usual Edinburgh lunch of the St Giles Waffle and a pot of Tea. Earl Grey. Hot. Nice.
Then I wandered a bit more, and then got the next train home.
All of it uphill, though not as long as some walks I’ve had in Edinburgh
Fortunately, they’re a lot better at food than they are at websites. Oooh, that is in need of some work…
Warm Belgian waffle, topped with crispy bacon, melting Brie, served with cherry tomatoes and a leafy salad, with maple syrup drizzled over it all. Almost worth the trip to Edinburgh on its own
