November 2012 Round-up

What? Another month over? Must be time for this, then

Weight

Away from my scale at both ends of the month, so the best we have is:

November 6: 218.8 pounds (15 stone 8.8 pounds, 99.2 kg)
November 25: 220.8 pounds (15 stone 10.8 pounds, 100.2 kg)

That’s a rise of 2 pounds (0.9kg), which I’ll blame on random wossanmenesss.

Eating

All this hotel living must be taking a toll on me…

Exercise

No walking to work this month, but I have done a few reasonable lunchtime walks.

Posting

A fairly quiet  month, with this report bringing the total to a moderately low 46.

Stuff

I have been having fun with my Fuji X100 – an interim report on it will follow at some point.

October 2012 Round-up

It’s the end of another month, so it must be time for the ever-popular monthly wossname

Weight

October 1: 223.6 pounds (15 stone 13.6 pounds, 101.4 kg)
October 30: 217.6 pounds (15 stone 7.6 pounds, 98.7 kg)

That’s a quite respectable drop of 6 pounds (2.7 kg), which I’d say was good progress.

Eating

I’ve kept up the eating less thing. Except at weekends, and when I happen to be in a hotel[1], breakfast has been cut back to a bowl of cereal and a yoghurt. The previous toast plan had to go due to my tendency towards using a lot of butter. Lunch is still a sandwich only. No sausage rolls or similar thingies. Seems to be making a difference.

Exercise

No walking to work this month, but I have done a few reasonable lunchtime walks.

Posting

Another moderate month, with this report bringing the total to a fairly sensible 53.

September 2012 Round-up

As another month slinks off into the distance, it’s time for the eagerly-awaited summary report thingy.

Weight

September 1: 226.8 pounds (16 stone 2.8 pounds, 102.9 kg)
September 30: 223 pounds (15 stone 13 pounds, 101.2 kg)

That’s an actual proper drop of 3.8 pounds (1.7 kg), and an even bigger drop of 7 pounds (3.2kg) from the highest weight of the month, which was on September 19. I’d love to be able to claim that this was all down to sensible diet and exercise, but I think the lurgy has to take most of the credit.

Eating

I have been eating a bit less lately. This may well be a good thing to keep up.

Exercise

Out of eighteen working days when I could possibly have walked (omitting one day I needed to catch a train, and Monday, when I worked from home), I walked to work ten times, which is pretty good by recent standards. Need to work on that. I also managed five lunchtime walks worth mentioning.

Posting

Not quite as low as last month. This report takes the total to 56, which is relatively sane…

August 2012 Round-up

Here we go again with the ever-popular, eagerly-awaited monthly thingy.

Weight

August 1: 227.2 pounds (16 stone 3.2 pounds, 103.1 kg)
August 31: 226.4 pounds (16 stone 2.4 pounds, 102.7 kg)

That’s a small drop of 0.8 pounds (0.4kg), which isn’t a lot, but it is a step in the right direction for once.

Eating

I’ve been behaving moderately well. Need to keep that up.

Exercise

After a long hiatus, I managed to start walking to work this week. Must keep that up, too.

Posting

It’s been a bit of a low posting month for no readily apparent reason. This report brings the August total to 50, which isn’t bad…

Stuff

Errr, not a lot to say this month. Not so many pictures taken, not a lot else to report.

July 2012 Round-up

After a moderately soggy start, July turned out to be a bit less rainy than June, and there were even some actual warm and sunny days, one of which was kind enough to show up just when I needed it for the airshow.

Anyway, enough of that, and on with the eagerly-awaited monthly report.

Weight

July 4[1]: 223 pounds (15 stone 13 pounds, 101.2 kg)
July 31: 225.4 pounds (16 stone 1.4 pounds, 102.2 kg)

Oh dear. That’s a rise of 2.4 pounds (1.1 kg), which isn’t as bad as last month. And there were various things going on. So there

Eating

When I haven’t been away somewhere, I’ve generally been behaving moderately well, apart from maybe the odd extra glass[2] of wine. I should probably cut down a bit on those…

Exercise

Not a lot of walking this month.

Posting

I’ve been in the posting mood again, with this one bringing the monthly total to 64, one more than last month.

Stuff

OK, can I just say that I’ve taken an insane number of photographs this month – a total of over 1,900, which even allowing for the high-speed shutter games at the airshow is a lot. That takes my annual total so far to the highest since I started collecting my images in 2006. And there are still five months to go. Now all I’ve got to do is process more of those photos and get them on show.

Oh, and the image count on the Canon 5D Mark III is over 4,200 in the four months I’ve had it. It took me a year to get to that stage with the Mark II.

June 2012 Round-up

Well, June turned out to be a wee bit wet. And when I say “a wee bit wet”, I mean please stop raining, please, aaarrrggggh.

But as I write this, it’s currently not actually raining, so maybe July will turn out drier[1]. Anyway, it’s the end of the month, and time for the usual report.

Weight

June 1: 220.4 pounds (15 stone 10.4 pounds, 100 kg)
June 25[2]: 224.8 pounds (16 stone 0.8 pounds, 102 kg)

Oh dear. That’s a rise of 4.4 pounds (2 kg), which I’ll blame on the rain, and it not being an actual end of month measurement, so there.

Eating

Bit of a mixture here – I have cut back on the excess stuff at lunchtime a bit. Though as I’m on holiday, extra eating may be happening.

Exercise

Once again, I managed a total lack of walking to or from work. Some of the blame belongs to the rain, but mostly it’s me not being motivated. Except on the wet days, where I’m quite sure I would have walked if it hadn’t been so damn wet.  :yes:  I did manage a few lunchtime walks, which my Garmin logs tell me came to a not particularly impressive 12 miles or so. Some walking has been going on in Wales, though.

I seem to be in posting mode again – this report brings June’s total to 63, the highest since October last year.

May 2012 Round-up

As May comes to a soggy end, it’s time for the usual compilation post thingy.

Weight

May 1: 216.4 pounds (15 stone 6.4 pounds, 98.2 kg)
May 31: 219.4 pounds (15 stone 9.4 pounds, 99.5 kg)

OK, that’s a somewhat annoying rise of 3 pounds (1.4kg), but, and it’s a big but[1], it’s a quite impressive 5 pounds (2.3kg) less than I weighed at one point this month. So that’s bad and good. Or something.

Eating

While I generally avoided the sausage rolls, I did get tempted by other evil savouries, which might account for the mid-month bulge mentioned above. Since my return from Bristol, I’ve been better behaved, and I’ll try to keep that up in June.

Exercise

This month I walked to work a grand total of not at all, with an equal score for walking home. I managed a few walks, with a logged total of just 14 miles, which isn’t a lot by recent standards. Must do better, etc.

Posting

I’ve been a bit quiet this month – this report brings the May total to 39, which is well below average.

Stuff

I had another trip to Bristol and another weekend in Wales, woo hoo!

April 2012 Round-up

OK, April seems to have floated away, so it’s time for the usual end of month summary thingy.

Weight

April 1: 221.6 pounds (15 stone 11.6 pounds, 100.5 kg)
April 30: 217.4 pounds (15 stone 7.4 pounds, 98.6 kg)

Well, that was actually my weight on April 22, as I was away from my scale from then until May 1, so we’ll just assume it’s sort of right. But that does show a drop of 4.2 pounds (1.9kg), which is pretty good for an incomplete month.

Eating

I have been resisting the sausage rolls, which is probably where most of that weight loss came from. Four nights in a hotel with big breakfasts and some nice evening meals, followed by five nights at my brother’s house, which may have involved eating out, pizza and wine shouldn’t have helped, but stay tuned for the first weight report in May.

Exercise

I logged just under 30 miles of walking in April. Not as good as March, but a week away and some diabolical weather did limit my opportunities a bit.

Posting

No significant change there – this report brings the total to 59

Stuff

Went to Bristol, set up some stuff, stayed in a hotel, had an unexpected trip to Wales, yay.

March 2012 Round-up

As another month fades away, and a whole quarter of the year gone, it must be time for the exciting monthly report.

Weight

March 1: 221.4 pounds (15 stone 11.4 pounds, 100.4 kg)
March 31: 220 pounds (15 stone 10 pounds, 99.8 kg)

That’s a drop of 1.4 pounds (0.6kg), which is a bit better than last month, but is also a huge improvement on where I was the last few weeks. Just need to keep that up…

Eating

OK, I admit it. Those extra mid-month pounds arrived when my lunchtime resolve cracked and I started on the sausage rolls. I’ve stopped those again, with almost immediate results…

Exercise

Well, this is a definite improvement on last month’s dire record. I walked to work a still not impressive six times, four of which were in the last week, and walked home just once. Additional walks brought my total for March to 45 miles, which is 20 miles more than last month. Good progress there.

Posting

I’ve been a bit chattier this month, with this post bringing the score to a quite moderate 58.

Stuff

I’ve been taking lots of pictures, upgrading my software and err, maybe something else too…
